About 1000 Lenses

1000 Lenses is a destination marketing initiative seeking to showcase and promote untapped, high-potential tourism destinations in Kenya and Africa at large through photography, Videography, and Storytelling. The initiative seeks to integrate immersive photography, impactful videography, and engaging storytelling to unearth untold stories of select tourism destinations and attractions across Africa starting with East Africa.

The Golden Lense Award

Golden Lense Award is the highest travel photography, videography and storytelling award in Africa. It awards photos, videos and story of the year recognizing the most outstanding travel image, video and story of the year shot in a selected Golden destination. The winner of each category becomes the most celebrated travel photographer, videographer and story teller of the year. The awards are in two major categories. The Golden destinations are usually unique, untapped high potential tourism destinations and are selected by 1000 Lenses team in consultation with stakeholders

The East Africa Safari Lense Award

This award seeks to recognize and award top travel photographer, videographer and storyteller in each of East Africa member states. Participants from each country are assessed and awarded based on their entry categories. Participants can participate in more than one categories and each entry is vetted separately and individually. The awards are awarded during the 1000 Lenses Award Ceremony that will be held in the Golden destinations. In 2024, the 1000 Lenses Award Ceremony will be held in Baringo County, Kenya which is the 1000 Lenses Golden Destination for 2024 edition.

The County Lenses Award

This is a local competition open for Kenyan Counties. It seeks to capture the best travel destination and experience photo, video and story in each of the 47 counties. County award ceremonies are held in each of the counties where winners in each category are awarded. Thereafter, the top winners in each county are enrolled to compete for the Grand County Lense Award. The winners are announced and awarded during the 1000 Lenses Travel Photography Award Ceremony held at the Golden Destination

Baringo County Edition

1000 Lenses is a year-round activation of tourism photography. It gives an opportunity to travelers to capture moments in images, videos and build unique contents for selected destinations. In 2024, the activities will take place across East Africa where participants will be recognized for capturing the best moments and experiences across participating countries in East Africa. The inaugural golden destination is Baringo County, Kenya. This is where the culmination of the yearlong event will take place with the awarding of the Golden Lense Award Price.
